Hi,
This is an interesting question.
I believe in formative assessment through student-active activities in order to assess their required competencies (independently of the educational stage). For example, through debates, practical cases, research projects in groups or other projects like service learning. The important thing is teaching on the basis of their interests and knowledge along with assessing the skills they will have to develop in their profession in a practical way, beyond the theory.
But this is a complex topic. What do you think?
